I'm Matty Sweet, a psychotherapist in Torquay and Paignton working with queer adults, neurodivergent people, and anyone in the middle of figuring out who they are and how they want to live. I don't need you to translate your experience for me.
No pressure. No commitment. Just a conversation to see if this feels right.

You Might See Yourself In This
-
You feel exhausted from holding everything together, even when everything appears fine externally.
-
Relationships feel confusing, intense, or distant, and you’re not sure why.
-
You replay conversations or situations in your mind long after they happen.
-
You want to understand the patterns that influence your reactions and choices.
-
You’re ready to explore identity, boundaries, and emotional triggers with curiosity and compassion.
This Is Where Psychotherapy Begins
What Psychotherapy Is Like With Me
Our work is relational and exploratory. We pay attention not only to what has happened in your life, but to what is happening between us - in the room, in the body, in what gets said and what doesn't.
Together we begin to notice the patterns in how you relate to yourself and others. Over time, what once felt automatic or overwhelming becomes something you can understand, soften, and reshape.
I work in a way that's unhurried, grounded, and genuinely affirming of queer and neurodivergent lives - not as a footnote, but as the foundation of how I practise.
What is Integrative Psychotherapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, short psychotherapy designed to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours. teaching effective coping strategies, CBT helps improve mental health and reduces symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress.

Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a therapeutic approach that explores unconscious thoughts and past experiences to understand current behaviours and emotional struggles. It helps individuals gain deeper self-awareness, fostering long-term emotional growth and improved mental well-being.

Humanistic Therapy
Humanistic therapy with a mind and body focus emphasises personal growth and self-awareness by integrating values and beliefs into the therapeutic process. It helps individuals connect with a higher purpose, foster emotional healing and a deeper sense of meaning in life.

Ready To Begin Psychotherapy?
Getting started with therapy can feel like the hardest part. So before any commitment, I offer a free 20-minute introductory conversation - a chance to get a feel for how I work and whether this feels like the right space for you.
If it does, we begin with a full 50-minute assessment session at my standard rate of £80. This isn’t an intake form or a checklist - it’s real work. We start where you are, and we go from there.
Sessions are £80 and last 50 minutes. I work Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - with evening appointments available.
About Me
I started this practice in 2022 because I wanted therapy to feel accessible - not intimidating, not clinical, not like you need to already have the right words before you arrive.
I came to this work through my own life as much as my training. I know what it's like to carry things that feel too complicated to explain to someone who won't understand. That shapes how I show up with every person I work with.
My practice is built for thoughtful adults who may feel exhausted from masking, unsure whether they can be fully seen, or carrying experiences that continue to shape how they relate to themselves and others. If you've ever felt like you had to explain yourself before a therapist could help you - this is for you.
I'm also a family man, a devoted tennis fan, and a firm believer that a good coffee and something sweet can hold a difficult day together.
