Devon Clinic, Torquay (June - August 2026) | Delivered in partnership with Torbay Helpline
The pilot evaluation for Cohort 1 of Beyond the Story - a 12-week therapeutic group programme delivered at the Devon Clinic - is now complete. Focusing on completer outcomes across four participant records, the pilot assessed shifts in general wellbeing, connection, voice, and identity.
Key Outcomes & Clinical Insights
Connection & Shared Experience: Participants consistently reported a reduction in isolation, with unprompted qualitative feedback highlighting "feeling safe" and "seeing I'm not alone" as core mechanisms of shift.
Domain Movement: Voice & Self-Expression emerged as the most dynamic domain across the cohort, showing significant movement as participants engaged with group dialogue and self-reflection.
Sustained Engagement: Three out of four completers demonstrated clear overall gains in total outcome scores (up to +30%), with participants noting the value of learning concrete tools, tracking progress, and experiencing non-judgmental acceptance.
"I have never been part of such a great therapy group... First group I've ever finished because I felt safe." - Cohort Participant
Professional Review
The goal from the assessment call to concluding was for each person to feel part of an important space. An accountable space to turn up and be with others stories but to look beneath their story.
It is now for me to produce a replicable service in cohort 2 and be ready to offer this to corperate services in 2027. This opportunity excites me because other organisation, like Shekinah, are keen to be a part of the future service.
If you know someone who would beneath from a free 12 week service, please follow the details on the last post by contacting Torbay Helpline to secure a place starting at 18:00 until 19:30 on Tuesday 8th September 2026.
Gratitude & Appreciation
Finally, I am ready to offer tools to change community, local government, corperate organisations. Will you be the person who seeks successful outcomes for the people you care for?
